Louis XIV- Commoner

Louis wants to be in total control! And the problem is...that he is! He has no sympathy or concern for us commoners and he is ruling selfishly. He created a centralized state that is absolutist. That is not going to be good for me and my fellow townspeople. The wars that he is waging are overwhelming our economy and are causing commonfolk like myself to sacrifice our lives and safety just to appease him. This way of life in unfair and unjust. We need a ruler that considers the effects his decisions have on all people - not just him and his court.

The self interested King Louis XIV not only neglected his people and their interests, but also helped define the different class tiers that would lay the foundation for social unrest during the French Revolution of 1789. Because of the importance that he placed on the nobility of France, he divided the land between those that were and those that were not members of the State.

I researched on clergy and discovered that Louis XVI forced his beliefs on others. Forced them to convert back to Catholicism which many did not want to do. He was self interested and wanted everything his way.

I conquer that he was an unjust and unfair ruler, especially to those of the lower class. He put them in danger and did not provide them with many opportunities to help improve their lifestyle.
